Full Text

The Richmond Enquirer is getting angry. Hear that usually equable journal! It says, "We confess, we begin to be impatient at the procrastination which some gentlemen appear to threaten. We hate these fluctuating rumors, which now and then reach us from Washington. The times demand firm, noble men, and generous patriots—not miserable dodgers, and calculating, selfish politicians." The Enquirer must keep its temper better. It will never do to be exposing these "miserable dodgers,' 'and calculating, selfish politicians," that it speaks of—because, unfortunately, they all belong to the "household of its faith."
