Uniformed Rank, K. of P., Chooses Him Head for Four Years.
There were fully 250 members of the State Uniformed Rank of the Knights of Pythias present at the candle lighted encampment last night at Lighthouse Point. They were in fairly good spirits after the afternoon battle was over which resulted in the election of the leading officers of this body for the coming four years.
This was the result: For brigadier-general, George R. Tryon of Meriden, re-elected for four years. For colonel of the Second regiment, Major George E. Pettijean of Waterbury, promoted from the position of major to succeed Col. L. L. Hall of Bristol. For major of the Second regiment, Captain Perry E. Wallace of Waterbury, in place of Capt. C. W. Draper of Waterville. In the vote for brigadier-general Tryon received 22 ballots, Capt. Percy E. Wallace of Waterbury 10, and A. B. Smith of New Haven 10. The vote was then made unanimous. Major-General J. O. Stobbart presided over the balloting. At the meeting yesterday mention was made, with extreme sorrow, of the death of Major Eugene D. Squires of the second battalion of the First regiment, on June 10 last.
