A worthy object is to be aided tonight by a delightful concert to be given at the Greenlaw operahouse.

The Tagliapietra opera company ended their campaign here on Saturday night, in a rather unexpected manner, their exchequer being empty and no funds on hand to pay off the members of the troupe. This, hard on all the company, is especially severe and distressing to those members of the chorus, the orchestra and others whose pay is light. The company is a meritorious one; and it is no fault of theirs that they were stranded here. Their recent tour through Texas was especially disastrous, rainy and cold stormy weather without cessation, preventing people from attending their entertainments. The managers of the company sunk their entire investment in the enterprise, and are as hard pressed, in a financial sense, as are those who held minor positions; this class are, however, not suppliants for charity but will contribute their quota toward the concert tonight, and will then proceed eastward to seek association with other lyric organizations. Prominent people in all circles of our society have enlisted their interest in the labor of trying to make the concert a pleasurable and a musical as well as a financial success. Let our people turn out freely to the proposed entertainment at the Greenlaw operahouse. The programme is a most attractive one in every respect, including the tower scene from "Il Trovatore" and other beautiful lyric selections, all under the direction of Prof. Levy. Seats may be secured at McCarthy's store, No. 293 Main street, up to five o'clock this afternoon.
