MRS. CHADWICK
IS GUILTY

OF SEVEN COUNTS AND MAY BE FINED $70,000 AND IMPRISONED 14 YEARS.

CLEVELAND, O., March 13--The jury in the case of Mrs. Cassie Chadwick brought in a verdict of guilty of seven counts in the federal indictment against her and she was remanded to jail. She utterly collapsed.

Mrs. Chadwick's condition Sunday caused her jailors much concern. She tossed all night moaning the one word "guilty." The physicians Sunday morning found her verging on a complete nervous collapse.

Convicted on every count of the indictment upon which the jury was at liberty to judge her--seven in all--Mrs. Cassie L. Chadwick is confronted with the possibility of $70,000 in fines and a term of 14 years in prison.

She was found guilty of conspiring to defraud the United States by conspiring to procure the certification of checks on a national bank when there were no funds in the bank to her credit.

The original indictment contained 16 counts. Two of those were ruled out during the trial by Judge Taylor, and of the remaining 14 one-half charged her with securing the certification of checks without having the proper entries made upon the books of the bank.

Judge Taylor, in his charge, directed the jury to disregard these counts, and consider only the remaining seven, which related to the certification with no funds on deposit. On all of these the jury found against her.
