The Muskingum Fish and Game club met in regular quarterly session here Friday night, with a good attendance. In the absence of the club president, Frank F. Coulson, Vice President E. J. Lentz of Glouster presided.
Representatives of the club from Crooksville, Stockport, Glouster, Corning, Jacksonville and the twin cities, were present. Due to the fact that the club covers so much territory, the matter was presented that branch clubs be organized in Crooksville, Glouster, Corning, Jacksonville and Stockport--these branch clubs to remain as of the Muskingum Valley Fish and Game club, but each of the clubs to have a presiding officer, and to meet every month, and the regular meeting of the entire club to be every three months, here the same as heretofore. This plan was pointed out would make for better cooperation, increased membership, and greater interest.
The same privilege of organizing branch clubs, in places other than those mentioned, was also agreed upon.
Division Conservation Officer Benj. Michael of Caldwell was present and spoke along the line of reporting violations; that the arrests he had made were without assistance. The club went on record as favoring the restricted game reserve of 4,000 acres in Bloom township, notice of which was published in this paper several weeks ago, and to affiliate with them, and assist them in matters of violations.
Other subjects discussed included the reason for the scarcity of fish in Muskingum river, one being that there was something in the water that might be interfering; and it was decided to send water taken from different places along the river, to the state for analysis. Others were of the opinion that gars were eating the stock fish as fast as they are placed in the river, large schools of them having been seen at different locations in the river.
