Full Text

Michigan Politics —The Loco Foco State Convention had an exceedingly warm time of it. The Popular sentiment leaned strongly towards Robert McClelland for Governor; but General Cass's friends were bitterly opposed to him.— They preferred any other man, and, through six informal ballots, shuffled every card in the pack, to defeat him. But they were foiled. McClelland, on the sixth informal ballot, received 68 votes, Farnsworth 49, and Barry 7. Finding themselves thus thrown, they demanded a formal viva voce vote, which was conceded. And then came their triumph. Farnsworth was dropped, and McClelland, who had just received a handsome majority, was beaten by Barry! The vote stood, Barry 65, McClelland 59! It is to be seen how Mac's friends will brook this juggling.
