Full Text

Outrage and Murder.—One of the overseers of the water works at Sing Sing, New York, was murdered, in a riot that occurred between two rival factions of laborers, last week. Another of the overseers was also beaten by them until they supposed he was dead, and then thrown into a stream of water. He was not dead, however, but managed to reach the bank, and crawl some distance, in the hope of eluding them; but they discovered him, and renewed their blows, until his skull was fractured in two places, and his jaw broken. There are some slight hopes of his yet recovering from these injuries.
