THERE'LL BE A HOT TIME IN POLITICS THIS WEEK.
The Harrington-Lee Fight Close in Anne Arundel.

With less than a week of the primary campaign before the deciding test will come at the polls, the political wiseacres are widely at variance in their prognostications of the result.

There are plenty of people who are enthusiastically confident that Lee will be the nominee of the Democratic party and the next Governor of Maryland
There are plenty who pin their faith on Harrington. A great many are decidedly of the opinion that the Republicans will nominate and elect Weller
And then there are others who rah' rah! for Warburton and will not be discouraged. All this difference of opinion, because it is apparently sincere, means nothing if not this week is going to be the hottest windup of a political primary campaign that good old Maryland has ever experienced. The big artillery of the four candidates is just beginning to roar, and the battle has taken on the proportion of a well-developed general election in a close year.

Summed up, Anne Arundel's Democratic situation seems about this way:

Lee has a fighting chance to defeat Harrington. The organization locally may be split up on its party governing-body membership. Dr. George Wells will be re-nominated Clerk of the Court by a safe majority. Bruner R. Anderson chief master of ceremonies in the Lee organization, is going to come pretty close to defeating Frank M. Duvall, the "regular" candidate for the Senate.

James Cox, a Lee enthusiast, will probably carry "Ike" Nutwell's strong hold, the Eighth district; and he will surely carry the Fifth district, as well as the Fourth district, one precinct of the First district and one of the Second district; and in most of the others has John R. Sullivan worried over the nomination for Sheriff.

A. Theodore Brady, backed by the Lee people for the House of Delegates, is likely to have to hustle to stay with the ticket. The minor office-seekers are involved in a scramble where men are likely to win on their individuality on both sides.

Those who have been throwing straws into the wind in the last few weeks say Harrington will not get as big vote as Gorman did four years ago. They say, further, that Lee will get a much bigger vote than was given him before

While no one is yet found to predict that Lee is going to carry Anne Arundel, plenty can be found who assert that the county should not now be absolutely ceded to the Harrington column. These--and they include unbiased, well-informed men--say the county is certainly doubtful, with the Lee organization of so-called "Progressives" waging such a fight as to have thrown a scare into the old Wells-Reynell-Potee organization.--Baltimore Sunday News.
