Full Text

That mileage matter has a suspicious look about it that requires light upon it. The resolution of Mr. Storey in the house is to the point. No member of the legislature must be permitted to taint the reputation of that body by any doubtful drawings of mileage. What each member is entitled to let him receive, but there must be no discrepancies of any kind between the number of miles charged for and the number of miles the party is entitled to by law. These sort of performances should be left to legislatures made up of carpet baggers, scalawags and vicious, ignorant, purchasable characters, but the people of Texas are in no humor to tolerate for a moment any mileage grabbing.
