SMYRNA AND VICINITY

Miss Annie Postles of near Milford, and Miss Sallie Baggs of Philadelphia, are guests of Mrs. F. E. Postles. Charles Postles was also a guest from Saturday until Monday.

A. C. Moore, a former resident of this vicinity, now residing near Dover, was one of our visitors yesterday.

Mrs. S. M. Wilson and daughter of Bridgeton, N. J., are guests of Mrs. George D. Collins.

Rev. J. E. Nicholson, Mrs. Donovan and Miss Sadie Wright will represent the M. P. Church, Clayton at the Kent County Bible Society.

Mrs. George Allen entertained the M. E. Epworth League of Clayton, in a "Donkey Party" Monday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. John C. Hall spent Sunday with his brother Wm. E. Hall, en route to Philadelphia.

Chas. H. Griffith, formerly of this vicinity, now residing near Wilmington, was one of those who came down with the Truax funeral on Friday.

Mrs. Alice Bailey, of Felton, has been visiting friends in town.

Miss Blanche Layfield, who has been the guest of Miss Mattie Jones near town, the past week, has returned home.

Miss Clara Ford, of near Smyrna spent Thanksgiving week with the Misses Swinney in Baltimore, who are attending a medical college there.

Mrs. F. E. Peterson and children of St. Georges have been visiting the family of James T. White.

Mrs. J. W. Watkins and family have returned from a visit to Odessa.

John C. Husted, who learned his trade at the TIMES office has accepted a position in the composing room of the new Wilmington Sun.

Mrs. Mary Stern, of Philadelphia has been spending a few days with relatives in town.

Rev. H. G. Budd, of Perryville, Md., and Edward Budd, of Philadelphia spent Thanksgiving with their parents.

It has been cold enough since Monday to suit the people who wanted to kill hogs. The ground was frozen quite hard this morning.

In yesterday's issue of the Clayton Call, the owners, Wm. G. Hill and Co., announce the sale of the paper to J. C. Wickes. It is to be moved at once into Smyrna. This will leave Clayton without a printing office. It is understood that the Saulsbury influence is back of the enterprise.
