A meeting of the citizens of Fredericksburg was held on the 19th inst. at the Town Hall, for military purposes. Dr. Charles L. Carter, the Mayor, in the chair. A committee was appointed to receive and collect subscriptions, to equip for service, and for the relief and subsistence of such of the families of those who shall go into the service of the U.S. either by draft or voluntary enlistment. A subscription was immediately opened, and the sum of $2166 subscribed. A Roll of a Volunteer Company was commenced at the same time, and a number of respectable names instantly appeared upon the list.
