MELANCHOLY

We learn that the country immediately below the Ridge is unusually sickly. In the neighboring county of Loudoun great distress prevails. Our informant tells us, that in one family three persons died within twenty four hours, who were in one grave. No cause can be assigned but afflicting mortality. The neighborhood possesses every advantage that can be claimed from geographical situation, and the country is believed to be as generally healthy as any part of the union: indeed, philosophers suppose this latitude (39) to be more favorable to health than any other on the globe.
