CORK, January 12.

A letter from a gentleman in the revenue at Castle-Townshend, to his friend here, mentions, that eight American vessels, 12-pounders, who sailed in company for the purpose of smuggling, appeared off that harbour last Friday, determined to fight all revenue cruisers; and being pursued by the Bushe cutter, an engagement took place within pistol shot, and she was overpowered by numbers and weight of metal. They then landed all their cargoes. In the engagement Mr. M'Dermot, mate of the Bushe, was killed.
