Full Text

Extract of another letter, of the same date.

This day a large number of the inhabitants of this city determined that the old government should be abolished, and a new one established; and, as the present Assembly was unfit for the purpose, having taken the oaths of allegiance, that a Convention should be called. It is supposed the whole province will readily adopt the measure, and the neighbouring colonies will undoubtedly do the same. Since general Wooster's disaster before Quebec, we have got about 10,000 men in that province, with good officers, a tolerable train of artillery, and plenty of ammunition, so that we do not apprehend any mischief from that quarter.
