Full Text
The result of the city election, Tuesday, shows both the weakness of the Democratic and the strength of the Republican party. As usual, after a short enjoyment of power, the Democrats quarreled over a division of the spoils, and broke to pieces. The Republicans, warned by recent defeats, put forward some of their best men for office, men worth the support of all good citizens, and they put forth the necessary effort to elect them. The revolution was effected very quietly and quickly, but none the less effectually, and the next city government will be the strongest and ablest Springfield has had for many years.—Springfield Union.
