Full Text

North Carolina Gold.

We have been gratified with the sight of some small nuggets of the real "Simon pure stuff" from the mine of A. H. Davis, Esq., at Ransom's Bridge, about twenty miles from Warrenton. We understand about forty hands are employed in the mines at the place, averaging from $2 to $2 50 each hand per day. The precious metal is generally found in grains among the gravel, but the nuggets we saw were turned up in ploughing. The largest weighed about ten pennyweights of pure gold, and with others of less size made a pretty pile.
