The United States Commissioner of Education, Mr. William T. Harris, reports that there are two women State Superintendents of Education, twelve women who are City and Town Superintendents, 229 County Superintendents--a total of 243 women officially superintending the work in the public schools of this country. This will be a surprise to many who have thought that women were not recognized in our public-school systems in the work of supervision and direction.
