Edgar, off Bornholm, June 8, 1801.
"I have been deprived of the happiness of writing for a considerable time; and you will receive this only by mere chance. We are now cruising in the Baltic. Our ship lost 133 men killed and wounded, at the battle of Copenhagen; though I have escaped, thank heaven, unhurt. I have wrote several letters to you; but have never received any. It would do me a very great piece of service, if you would get a protection and send it in a letter. It might be the means of clearing me from a British man of war."
