Work on Dam Is Delayed by Heat

Several Deaths and Numerous Prostrations Have Broken Morale.

WASHINGTON, Aug. 1 (P)—The building of the Boulder canyon dam is being slowed by terrific desert heat.

Government engineers supervising the construction reported to the bureau of reclamation today that the several deaths and numerous prostrations have demoralized the workers to a noticeable degree and that this has been reflected in reduced progress.

The government men blame the climate entirely. Stringent physical examinations for all workers have been instituted to prevent any but fit men from risking the intense heat.
