Fire at Barnum and Bailey's.

New York, Jan. 8.—The World this morning has the following special from Bridgeport, Conn.: Part of the winter quarters of Barnum & Bailey's show was burned last night, and there were many wild and exciting scenes among the animals of the menagerie. Elephants, lions, tigers, bears, and all manner of fierce and strange beasts were taken out of the buildings in safety. Their cries made a thrilling din, and despite the danger of escaping animals thousands of people gathered to witness the scene. The fire started in one of the large barns, where were stored quantities of hay, wagons, chariots and circus material of various kinds.
