Full Text

The Liverpool (England) Mail, speaking of Mr Webster's letter to Mr Fox, says:

"We cannot soon forget, however, the impression which the contents of that letter produced on our minds; for a more jesuitical production, or a more contemptible effort of special pleading, containing an under current of hypocrisy and wualt, never was addressed by a foreign minister to the British government."

[Mr Webster must feel bad to be attacked thus by the subjects of Queen Victoria! It is almost as unmerciful as the assaults of kindred spirits at home. We trust Mr W. will not consider himself wholly annihilated by the combined attacks from abroad and at home, and will try to survive a while longer. He should not be dismayed by the reflection that to act well the part of an American citizen in our day draws the reproaches of the enemies of his country's interest at home as well as in England.]
