Vibrations Will Light Airport
By United Press Leased Wire

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 4.—The vibrations of airplanes arriving at night at Mines Field for the national air races will turn on the most powerful lighting system any airport ever had, it was announced today.

Thirty five giant flood lights of a million candlepower each, will be automatically set to work when a plane passes between 1,600 and 2,000 feet above the field.

Sensitive radio instruments receive the vibrations and operate the lights.

The races will be held between September 8 and 11.
