Full Text

We noticed in the papers of yesterday morning the sudden death of a respectable female, who, as we are informed, was the wife of a citizen recently incarcerated for a small debt which he was utterly unable to discharge. It is said that the wife called on the creditor and pleaded in the most piteous terms for the release of her husband, and that finding him unmoved by her entreaties, in a paroxysm of despair she took a dose of laudanum and shortly expired. This is a beautiful illustration of the beneficial effects of the poor debtor laws as they are at present enforced in this Commonwealth.
