CHICAGO, June 15.- Fifteen hundred barrels of beer were recently smuggled out of the Standard brewery here while the brewery was being guarded by United States deputy marshals, and as a result, Terry Druggan and Frank Lake, alleged beer runners, are being sought to face a possible three-year term in prison. The brewery was under federal injunction at the time of the coup. Violation of such an injunction, according to legal precedent, puts the violators in contempt of court for which offense they can be sent to prison without a jury trial. The two alleged beer runners are said to have bribed a train crew to shunt a string of cars on the siding alongside the brewery. The cars were loaded with beer at night and moved to a point about three miles away, and there the barrels of beer were transferred to a fleet of trucks and hauled away.
