Chuck's Chatter
THANKSGIVING Nov. 23, 1961

We have minds to choose what we want to do in life, where we want to live and the work that we will do.

With these choices alone we have reason to be thankful this season of the year. We live in a free land. We live where choice is accepted as our right. Ours is one of the few lands where these statements can be made.

Are You Truly Appreciating Your Situation??

Painting still goes on all over town. Oscar Dahlbergs and Alfred Jensen at the Dowden home are the two using the most paint right now. Remember, there is just one week til Inventory, and then back to the Regular Red Carpet Prices again. We enjoy serving you all year; but it seems we get a Special Pleasure in the latter days of the year, because these are the days that tell the story of our total volume for 1961. We have had another good year, and that makes us all happy.

Emmett is off on a well deserved vacation to Conrad to see his folks. He has never seen them in their new home, as they moved to Conrad after he came to work at the Red Cross Carpet store. In the meantime, we have Harold Iverson back, and it seems almost normal to have him around behind the counter. Thanks "Stone Face" for helping out for this week.

Three more of our friends and neighbors have made the Last Long Trip this week. Our sincere sympathy goes to the Etzel, Colgan and Youngman families. A special place in my heart is still filled from the friendship of "Mom" Lizzie Youngman. She has been a special friend to me personally for several years. We, in Poplar, often forget the heritage that we "pale-faces" get to share with these older citizens of the "Red Race."

Many an hour I have enjoyed at the new home west of town with Lizzie and Julius. Their lives are living history and we lose each time one of them is called to the "Happy Hunting Ground." The best way we have of saying "thank you" for the privilege of knowing any of these is by the way we respect them by our lives.

The Big Construction Firm of Bob Clark and "Shunks" Buckles (not too many in number but pretty big each one) are about finished with another new housing project at the Eklund Brothers Terminal west of Poplar. They have done a very creditable job quickly for Commander Saboe. Thanks to you all.

POSTS - POSTS - POSTS!!!

We have them—personally recommended by Willie Lockman and imported by him from western sources. Willie brought us a load of 3" x 6½' butt treated posts this past week, and we will sell them right out. 1000 in stock and they are specially priced at 89¢ each, or only 79¢ each in lots of 50 or more. How many units do you need? All pointed and ready for your fencing needs right now.

These posts have not even been touched by anyone except Will and Ray Rettig, so they are not even "shop-worn." Get the best deal in town right now. Buy them by the 50's and save a dime a piece.

Have a good Thanksgiving and treat your "tummy" to a treat; not "Tums."
