Feb. 6. The Salisbury Journal, received yesterday, has the following Article, dated Salisbury, February 3: We hear from Portsmouth, that on Tuesday last a Seaman sick at Haslar Hospital expressing a great Uneasiness and Anxiety of Mind, and a great Desire to see some Officer of the Terrible Man of War, (lying at Spithead) a Messenger was dispatched, and an Officer attended the Man at the Hospital, who then informed him that a Scheme was laid for blowing up the Ship, and that in a particular Part thereof they could find a Machine full of Combustibles, which was to set Fire to a Train of Gun Powder leading into the Powder Room: The Officer, it is said, instantly repaired back to the Ship, and found the Machine prepared and laid according to the Man's Information. It is reported that the Officer is gone to London and taken the Man with him, from whom great Discoveries are expected to be made.
