"The Election of yesterday, by far exceeded our most sanguine expectations. The democratic majority in the county and city, will exceed 5,000 votes. In no instance have we failed of success with great and overflowing majorities, and feds are as quiet and docile as you please.
What may appear very singular, after the noise made about the Embargo in the federal papers and speeches, that part of the city which is called Fells-Point, & where it is natural to suppose the seamen live and others immediately connected with that most useful sort of people live; only eighteen out of nearly seven hundred votes, were given for the federal ticket.
This afternoon, Messrs. Moore and M'Kim, are to be chaired in an elegant schooner, and in the evening arrangements are made for the burning the cask or eight pipes of gin lately imported in the Sophia from Rotterdam, which paid tribute in England. The burning takes place on Gallows hill.
In fine, we shall have a splendid and glorious afternoon and evening.
P. S. The majority for Congress, County and City, is said to be 5,254. The state generally, will be much as before."
