Urs Tells Garden Enthusiasts How To Battle Pests

Common garden insect pests and how to control them were discussed by Stephen Urs, Glasgow agricultural instructor, at another meeting of the community garden class in the high school Monday night.

"Try some bichloride of mercury and mix as directed: you won't have onion or radish maggots this year," Mr. Urs advised

"Blister beetles do much damage to flowers and garden crops, but are easily controlled. Aphids are also dangerous pests, but easily controlled by applications of nicotine sulfate."

"Your county agent has helpful bulletins on gardening, irrigation, diseases and pests and control measures."
