Bible Distribution.

Editor Tipton Advertiser:

Dear Sir: I see a paragraph going the rounds of the papers, to the effect that Johnson county has contributed the largest amount of any one county in the State to the Bible cause, this year. This is indeed true. Rev. M. Doolittle has just completed the canvass of that county, under the auspices of the Johnson County Bible Society, and has raised a trifle over $500 for the cause. This is a good example, and Johnson county, thus far, for the current year, stands as the banner county. Mr. Doolittle expects in a few days to commence operations in Cedar county, under the direction of the Executive Committee of your County Bible Society, and I bespeak for him a cordial reception among the people, and a generous response in behalf of the cause. The Parent Society in New York is printing the Sacred Volume in some 46 different languages, and has just entered upon the immense work of preparing plates upon which to print the Scriptures in the Arabic tongue. The cost of the plates alone will be $35,000. In addition to this—and all the work already on hand throughout our own land and among the millions in heathen lands—the Society has a vast undertaking before it among the millions who have just come up out of bondage in our own land. Over 50,000 volumes have been given to them already. Will not the friends of the Bible in Cedar lend a helping hand in these great movements?

Yours, very truly,

D. E. JONES,

State Agent of the N. W. Bible Society.
