Keelers to Run 250 Mile Night Time Race for Waffles

A 250-mile all night race against time for a hot waffle breakfast in a cabin at Big Bear Lake!

That's what Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Keeler plan for the night of Saturday next.

That's when Mr. Keeler, who works at the Review, and Mrs. Keeler, deputy county clerk and sometimes known as "Cupid's Secretary," will start on their week's vacation.

And they'll "vacate" with friends at Big Bear Lake, Mr. and Mrs. James E. Brown of Whittier, California.

It is these friends who have promised the Keelers the hot waffle breakfast if they get there in time. After driving to Cajon Pass, there will be 100 miles more back into the mountains, and this road, being a one-way affair, cannot be entered after 6:30 a.m. for several hours.

Therefore the Keelers' Ford must average 25-plus miles per hour to make it in time for breakfast.

"And we certainly want to get to those waffles," said the secretary yesterday.
