Floor for Wages, Ceiling for Hours Fixed in Revised Measure
WASHINGTON. April 15. - The House Labor Committee has reported the new revised wages and hours bill favorably.
The bill fixed the floor for wages at 25 cents an hour and the ceiling for hours at 44 hours a week.
Under the bill, drawn up by Chairman Mary Norton, the wage scale will advance progressively and the hours drop over a period of two years until the forty hour week and forty cents an hour standard is established.
The committee struck out the differential clause which would set up different wage hour ratios for different sections of the country.
