Patterson, N. J., January 2.-Nearly 5,000 persons gathered at the railroad station to welcome Austin Gibbons, the vanquisher of Andy Bowen, in the recent fight at New Orleans. A brass band furnished patriotic music for the occasion, and Gibbons was surrounded by the surging crowd and carried on the shoulders of some of his admirers to his brother's saloon, on lower Market street. There he was met by his mother, who covered him with kisses. Gibbons is looking little the worse for his hard struggle.
