Full Text
The Crowningshields.-These two young men, now imprisoned under the charge of having been concerned in the Salem murder, were formerly imprisoned on a charge of felony committed in this city. Fisher the convict who pointed the attention of the committee of vigilance to Hatch, was also implicated in that charge. The circumstance occurred in August of 1827. It appears that Fisher and one of the Crowningshields boarded in the National Hotel, the other in the American, a trunk belonging to one of the boarders, in the latter was broken open, and robbed of $200; Fisher and the Crowningshields were charged with the felony. The money was returned, and the charge was, we believe never tried in Court. The trial will take place next month, at the request of the prisoners. N. Y. Cour. & Enq.
