EXPUNGING NO NEW THING.

Mr. Editor—In looking over the pages of antiquity, I find the first Expunging resolution on record is that of that old Serpent the Devil coiled round the Tree of Knowledge as so many black lines to Expunge a righteous decree of the Eternal. I did not believe till recently that all evil spirits were possessed of that curious sort of magic. Twenty-four of them have lately shown how they hate the Tree of Knowledge; but the doings of the pure and worthy are not so easily obliterated. Freemen of Connecticut! an attempt has been made to girdle the Tree of Knowledge—be prepared on the first Monday in April to turn this generation of vipers out of your garden, lest they seize upon the Tree of Liberty.
