Full Text

The Second Regiment. It seems that the Second New Hampshire Regiment has again been tried in battle. But limited and indefinite reports have come in from the regiment, and there is much anxiety in regard to the men. The regiment was exposed to the thickest of the fight for a time, and lost 16 killed, 66 wounded—2 mortally—and 23 missing. In company C, (Capt. Carr's) a man by the name of Buck. was killed; no others reported. Lt. Burnham was severely wounded. Lt. B. is son of the teacher Burnham who was a long time at Pembroke Academy. No report comes from company I, (Capt. Bailey's). They may not have been in the fight, but the probability is that the telegraph omitted the report.

We shall soon have an official statement.
