MORE SKIRMISHING ABOUT A WOMAN.
It is a well known fact that such a thing as a woman getting a man into trouble is an impossibility. This fact is further borne out by the following tale of the troubles of a couple of colored individuals. Stephen Williams, who is in the employ of Woodruff & Ennor, a short time since led to the altar a young colored girl, rejoicing in the characteristic name of Levinia. After a short period of connubial bliss the couple quarreled and separated, a colored Adonis named Niblett being suspected of being instrumental in causing the flight of the lady from her liege lord. After a short period of separation the wife returned to her husband, and to all appearance everything was going along smooth. But the green-eyed monster lurked in the bosom of Williams. He suspected that Niblett was still casting his lecherous eye upon his beloved Levinia, and he determined to be revenged. In pursuance of this object he armed himself with a club, and last evening took up a position on the steps of Wells, Fargo & Co.'s office (where Niblett is employed), and awaited the appearance of his victim. Niblett soon emerged from the door, unconscious of danger, when Williams raised his weapon and felled him to "mother earth." His "nibbs," recovering himself, went for his gun, seeing which, Williams fled the scene. The most reliable accounts of the affair are that both ran, one up the street and the other down. If there are any discrepancies in this account, which is obtained from the parties themselves, Justice Davis will correct them this evening.—White Pine News, 18th.
