A beautiful Compliment.—The citizens of Philadelphia have caused to be manufactured a splendid Tea Set of Silver, for Mrs. Duane, lady of the late Secretary of the Treasury. The larger pieces bear the following inscription:

"Presented to Mrs. William J. Duane, grand daughter of Dr. Franklin, as a testimony of respect for her own virtues, and those of her husband, late Secretary of the United States Treasury, whose regard for the laws was visited on him by deprivation of office, loss of official favor, and political and partisan persecution."
