NEW-PORT. May 17.

Extract of a letter from Newburgh, May 7.

His Excellency General Washington, General Sir Guy Carleton, and the Governor of this State, appointed to meet at Orange-town last Monday. -- The interview will probably produce something interesting. By accounts from New York, tories give up every idea of being admitted to the freedom of these States: this Conclusion, I believe, is partly founded on the numerous associations forming in every part of the country to oppose their admission. I hope our little State will not be the last in discovering their opposition to a measure which would be so fatal in its consequences.
