"The bill for the Non-Catholics has at length passed the House of Parliament, and has been registered. His Majesty having been informed, that the edict was withdrawn for the purpose of reforming it, sent a message to the House, to desire them to lose no time, and to have it ready, with the necessary alterations, by the 30th, that being the day fixed for receiving it, registered, at Versailles. On Tuesday the whole was finished at three o'clock in the afternoon, and the King had the bill yesterday morning. It was immediately after conveyed to the respective printers of the King and Parliament, and, in all probability, it will be published to-morrow. This edict is very long, the preamble particularly.
"M. de Brienne is really dangerously ill; but in case of any accident, or unforeseen change, the person who is to succeed him will never be M. Necker. He may very likely have a share in the Administration, but no Protestant (notwithstanding the edict) will enjoy any place in the King's Council, or any important charge in the Magistracy."
They say, the Duke of Orleans has given orders to sell all his hotels at Versailles, Fontainbleau, Compiegne, &c.

Event Details
The bill for Non-Catholics passed the House of Parliament and was registered after revisions ordered by the King, completed by January 30 at Versailles, received by the King on January 31 morning, and sent to printers for probable publication the next day. The edict is lengthy, especially the preamble. M. de Brienne is dangerously ill, but succession will not go to M. Necker, who may share in administration; no Protestants will hold places in King's Council or important magistracy roles despite the edict. The Duke of Orleans has ordered the sale of his hotels at Versailles, Fontainbleau, Compiegne, and elsewhere.
