How It Looks to the Judicial Eye.

The Republicans are very well satisfied with the situation, and have reason to be. The Democrats say they are satisfied too, but the ground of their satisfaction is only apparent to those who are better acquainted with the mind of their constituency than we profess to be. As the marshals will not be called on to perform election duties before congress meets in December, the fears that have resulted from the passage of the army bill have been allayed. The President could sign the bill, but there are a good many grave reasons, which he has already set forth, for his refusing to countenance in any way attempts to control him in the exercise of the veto power by presenting him with odious alternatives.—The Nation (Ind.).
