T. P. Gholson Elected President; Other Officers Named, 30 At Meeting
At a most enthusiastic meeting last night at Hill Top tea room, a Junior Chamber of Commerce for Henderson was organized with something over 30 young Henderson business men aligning themselves with the organization.
T. P. Gholson, an attorney, was elected president of the group with Thomas Badger, III, being made first vice president, E. L. Waddill, second vice president, Sam Alford, secretary and treasurer, and B. H. Mixon, Sol Hayes, H. T. Powell, E. O. Falkner and C. H Tanner were named as directors. Mr. Alford made the statement today that he could not serve in an official capacity with the organization, due to the press of business activities, and he expected another secretary-treasurer to be chosen at a meeting next Monday evening at 7 o'clock at the same place.
Representatives of the national council and members of the Raleigh Junior Chamber of Commerce were present for the meeting, some of them addressing the group, telling of the work that such an organization can accomplish.
At next Monday's meeting, various committees will be appointed, by law adopted and other business will be transacted, it was stated.
