Remarks.—The Senators who held over from last year were Messrs. Crispin, Penniman, Smith, Fegely, Headley, Gibson, Kidder, Dimock, McLanahan, Gorgas, and Bigler, (democrats) 11. And Messrs. Spackman, Bower, Huddleson, Cochran, Hiester, Mathers, Mullin, Sullivan, Darsie, Stewart, (whigs) 10, and Farrelly of Crawford (conservative) 1. Total holding over, 11 democrats; 10 whigs; 1 conservative.

AT THE LATE ELECTION the democrats have carried McCully, Baily, (gain) Champneys, (gain) Eyer, (gain) Horton, Hill, Black, and Wilcox, 8, bringing the democratic strength to 19. The whigs have carried Crabb, Kline, and Craig, gaining none and losing three, which reduces their forces in the Senate to 13, exclusive of Farrelly.
