Full Text

The United States Gazette says: The new victory in Ohio is important far beyond the acquisition of another Whig vote in Congress, and the silencing of one Loco Foco voice. It now seems fully demonstrated, that wherever the ballot box is presented to the people, they respond in the true tone of patriotism. If the members of Congress, elected, as Mr. Loomis was, upon the Van Buren ticket, were to resign as he did, what a different aspect would be presented in the House of Representatives, at Washington.

From all points within our own borders we are cheered with the gladdening promise of the success of the Whigs. The people are every where moving, and few are found, bold and blind enough to vindicate the course and conduct of the federal and State Administrations. Submission longer to the present state of things is out of the question. The freemen are aware, that we must have a change. Every freeman, in fact is ready and willing—ay, anxious to aid in bringing it about. With this sentiment predominant, we have nothing to fear. We have only to march forward in a solid phalanx,—be prepared to throw our votes for good men and true, and we shall achieve a victory which shall throw into the shade even those which have been obtained in Maine and New York.
