Extract of a Letter from Portsmouth. June 22.

"His Majesty arrived this Day about eleven: went immediately to the Commissioners in the Dock Yard, where he stayed above an Hour; he then went to the Governor's House, where the Mayor, Aldermen and Recorder of Portsmouth, waited on him and congratulated him on his Arrival; they returned afterwards to the Town Hall. The Mayor had the Honor to be knighted."

"After the Levee Yesterday, his Majesty returned to his Dock, and there got into his Barge, and went off, accompanied by the Lords of the Admiralty, and all the Barges in the Fleet, to Spithead, on Board the Barfleur, where he dined, when all the Ships saluted him a second Time. After Dinner he went through the Fleet in his Barge, accompanied as before, when every Ship was manned, and saluted him with 21 Guns and three Cheers as he passed them. After which he went on board the Augusta Yacht, and sailed into the Harbour, accompanied by the William & Mary & Fubbs, with an incredible Number of Pleasure-Boats and Spectators,----At Night the Town, Common, and Gosport were all illuminated."

"More than five Hundred Yachts and Vessels, with Company on Board, have every Day attended the Review at Spithead, and most of them had Cannon on Board, which kept up a constant fire, as his Majesty passed and re-passed them, all which, with the continual Salutes and Huzzas from the Men of War, the Display of Flags on board the dressed Ships, together with the Fineness of the Weather, made a very grand Appearance it exceeded all Expectation."
