Full Text

Attention is respectfully directed to the following letter from Mrs. Ellen Chambers of Carthage R. 1. It very forcibly brings out the dire need of a dog law in this county and also gives the grand jury a pointer in regard to the game and trapping law. Right here, it might be suggested, is where our law makers can do some genuine service to Smith county in protecting our good people from suffering destruction to their property by worthless dogs. Mrs. Chambers' letter, in part, follows:

"Trappers have filled my pastures with both traps and dead-falls and recently caught one of my pigs. Also, the dogs in this section have been after my sheep. Will you please advertise for me and see if it will warn people to keep off my premises with traps and give protection to my stock.
MRS. ELLEN L. CHAMBERS."

It is such appeals as this that should awaken the people of the county to take action at the next legislature in securing a law for the protection of the property of the public.
