Lighted Match Ignites Clothes Fire Loss Includes $250 In Cash, $1200 in Clothing
When Mrs. Jetta McPheeters, 831 Iglehart Ave., St. Paul, and Miss Gladys Fields of Mason City, Ia., who is visiting her, returned from downtown Monday afternoon, Jan. 5, Mrs. McPheeters decided to put some mice seed poison in an upstairs bedroom closet.

The closet being full of clothes, Mrs. McPheeters lighted a match in order to see that the poison was properly placed. The clothing was ignited, and fire quickly enveloped the room. Mrs. McPheeters' hand was so badly burned in the accident that she had to receive treatment at Ancker hospital.

Cash in the amount of $250 was destroyed in the ensuing blaze. All of the clothing except those worn by the two women, and the furnishings of the bedroom were also destroyed.

Loss in clothing to Mrs. McPheeters alone was estimated at $1,200. The bedroom was total loss except the mattress. The total loss is as yet undetermined.
