We learn that two men who had formerly resided near Fairmont but who had left their homes and joined the rebel army, recently returned and kept themselves concealed. Yesterday a squad of the Home Guards in the neighborhood called on the mother of the parties and requested her to inform them of the facts in regard to their return, telling her that if they were not paroled they must take the oath. She assured them that they had not returned and that she knew nothing of their whereabouts. The premises were watched, and they were found concealed in the woods. On the approach of the guard they attempted to escape when the guard fired on them, killing one and wounding the other.
