ALUMNI OF LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL CARRY OUT MANY ACTIVITIES IN HOLIDAY SEASON WHICH BRINGS MANY HOME BASKET BALL TOURNAMENT TONIGHT (FRIDAY)
The holidays have again brought a large number of Harlem High School alumni home for a short visit, and in order that all may get together at this time, the officers of the graduate organization have planned the annual holiday banquet and dance. The winter vacation has proven to be a better time for reunion than in the spring, as is the custom in many places.
An unusually large number of former basketball players are in town this winter and a tournament in which all the old-timers will participate, will be held tonight (Friday) at the Lincoln School gymnasium. The first game will begin at 7:30, as there will be three games on the schedule.
Team No. 1 includes George Niewoehner, Ashley Brockway, Bud Dolven, Arnold Dolven, Einar Veseth, Leo Brockie, James Kirkaldie, Marvin Mullen and Dick Saunders. On Team No. 2 will appear Red Buckley, Louis Noff singer, Ray Jessen, Ray Rhoads, Preston Ring, Dave Gannaway and Walter Calvert. The veterans, Art Buckley, Kermit, Quentin and Frig Ekegren, Pat Granger, Bill Brownfield and Elston Sponenburgh are on Team No. 3, while the fourth team will be comprised of more recent graduates, Sig Veseth, Elwell and Woody Ekegren, Jack Kelly, Bill Collins, Kermit Rasmussen, Clifford and Leslie Anderson.
On Saturday night the annual banquet will be served at the Masonic Hall, plans being made to seat about seventy. Each class has a member working on the committee on arrangements and the affair promises to be brilliant in every respect. Ruth Gannaway, now of Fort Benton, will preside as toastmistress. Music and speaking will be combined in the dinner program. The oldest grads expected to be present will be Mr. and Mrs. Samue Ring, both members of the 1918 class of Harlem High, the first to be graduated, and it is hoped every class will have at least one representative.
Following the banquet, the dancing party will be held at Legion Hall. The dance is open to the general public and is expected to be one of the best of the season.
