Sacrificed Jewels To Help Husband

Special Correspondence to The Press

NEW YORK, June 1.—How many society women would sell their jewels, worth considerably more than $100,000, just to satisfy the demands of their husbands' creditors?

That is the sacrifice Mrs. Chas. W. Morse has made, the greatest sacrifice a woman of her social position could make. Morse, who was formerly the head of the ice trust and the ship trust, was badly pinched in the recent financial flurry in Wall st. His millions disappeared almost in a night. He is making a game fight to get on his feet again and is succeeding. Not only her jewels, but considerable of Mrs. Morse's private fortune has gone to aid her husband's return to the Wall st. gambling game.
