Full Text

NEW-YORK, August 24.

A likeness of France, not exaggerated.

A monarchy depressed into a Republic, bolstered up by corruption, feeding upon itself, and devoured in its turn by its own entrails.

A State of all Statesmen.

An army all of Generals.

A navy of Gun-boats.

A ruined Commonalty.

An extinct nobility, and universal Peerage.

Law and no Right.

Power and no Justice.

A Senate going to be dissolved.

A monstrous Directory with five heads.

A weak and unarmed rebellion of distant Lords and Dukes, against bands of usurping assassins with bloody swords in their hands without scabbards.

STATISTIC of EUROPE.

France tries to bully all the world.

America does not like it.

Spain cannot help it.

England fights for every body

The Emperor gives up half.

Russia comes forward a step.

Denmark arms.

Sweden shuts her ports.

Portugal hangs between France and England.

Turkey begins to see clear.

Holland has paid her all.

The Pope has nothing left.

Ireland is turned French.

If all this does not unite us, the Lord have mercy upon us.
